Grand Restaurant Schuh

This attractive restaurant and tearoom in the center of town has been known for its pastries since 1885. They are still the town's finest. The alpine building has a thick roof arched over the fourth- floor windows and, in back, a sunny terrace with a view of the Jungfrau and a well- kept lawn. The dining room has large windows and a Viennese ambience. A pianist provides music.

It has been said by it's new owner, Interlaken- famous enterpreneur Jürg Kirchhofer, that they were producing first chocolate in Switzerland 1817. According to that tradition they offer further insight by a daily (only working days, 4, 5 and 6 p.m.) presentation about the art of chocolate making, which is free, if you consume for at least 10 Swiss Francs and lasts half an hour.
